Common Pediatric Conditions We Treat Online

These are some of the most frequent pediatric issues we see by video. Each condition page explains what we treat through telemedicine, when we recommend in-person or ER care, and what parents can do at home.

Bacterial Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye)

Red, sticky eyes and yellow or green discharge. We diagnose bacterial vs viral vs allergic patterns and prescribe eye drops when appropriate, with strict red-flag rules for eye emergencies.

Ages 6–17 • Non-emergency eye care

Sinus Infection (Acute Sinusitis)

Persistent congestion, facial pressure, and thick nasal discharge. We follow pediatric guidelines for when sinus infections are likely bacterial and when antibiotics actually help.

Ages 6–17 • Evidence-based treatment

Sore Throat & Strep Evaluation

Most sore throats are viral and do not need antibiotics. We screen for strep features and guide you on when a rapid strep test is needed before treatment.

Ages 6–17 • No antibiotics without testing

Impetigo

Honey-colored crusts and superficial skin infection around the nose, mouth, or extremities. We evaluate mild to moderate impetigo and recommend topical and, when needed, oral treatments.

Ages 6–17 • Mild–moderate infections only

Rash Evaluation

Non-emergency rashes including viral exanthems, mild allergic rashes, localized contact reactions, eczema flares, and insect bites. We screen for red flags that require urgent care.

Ages 6–17 • Non-emergency rashes

Asthma Refills (Stable Asthma)

Refills for existing asthma plans when control is stable. Not for acute asthma attacks or new diagnoses. We help bridge routine refills and reinforce when emergency care is needed.

Ages 6–17 • Refills only, no emergencies

What We Don’t Treat by Video

For safety, some pediatric conditions are not appropriate for telemedicine and must be evaluated in person or in the emergency department. These include:

  • Severe breathing problems or suspected asthma attack
  • High fever with purple or bruising-type rash
  • Seizures or altered mental status
  • Severe dehydration, persistent vomiting, or inability to drink
  • Head injuries, serious injuries, or suspected fractures
  • Any situation where you feel your child is in immediate danger

When in doubt, we encourage parents to err on the side of caution and seek in-person care or call 911.
