TeleDirectMD Frequently Asked Questions

Virtual urgent care led by a single board-certified MD. Adults 18+ only, video-only visits, $49 flat-fee, no insurance required, no controlled substances.

About TeleDirectMD

Who we are, how the service works, and what makes TeleDirectMD different from large call-center style telehealth platforms.

TeleDirectMD is a physician-led telehealth service that provides affordable, same-day video visits for common, non-emergency adult medical conditions. Every visit is personally conducted by Dr. Parth Bhavsar, a board-certified family medicine physician licensed in 25+ U.S. states.

The goal is to combine the convenience of telemedicine with the continuity and expertise of seeing the same MD, without subscriptions, hidden fees, or complicated insurance rules.

Adults 18+ only MD-only care $49 flat-fee No insurance needed

Every TeleDirectMD visit is with the same physician: Parth Bhavsar, MD, a board-certified family physician. You will not be routed to random providers, mid-level clinicians, or anonymous call-center doctors.

This MD-only model is designed to provide consistent, high-quality medical care from a physician who can understand your history and patterns over time.

No mid-level substitutions

TeleDirectMD currently focuses on adults age 18 and older. Pediatric care is not offered at this time.

For children, it is safest to see their pediatrician, an in-person urgent care, or a pediatric-focused telehealth service that can evaluate them appropriately.

Many large telemedicine companies use call-center style staffing, rely heavily on mid-level clinicians, or push patients into subscriptions. TeleDirectMD was built around the opposite idea:

  • Direct, one-to-one care from a single, board-certified MD.
  • Flat-fee pricing with no subscriptions and no surprise facility charges.
  • Evidence-based, adult-focused virtual urgent care and refills.
  • HIPAA-compliant platform and LegitScript-certified online healthcare operation.

The name reflects the design of the service:

  • “Tele” – you can be seen remotely, without a waiting room.
  • “Direct” – there is no call center or third party between you and your doctor.
  • “MD” – you always see a licensed medical doctor, not a chatbot or mid-level provider.

TeleDirectMD is about restoring a direct, convenient relationship between patient and physician using technology as a tool, not a replacement for medical judgment.

Availability and States We Serve

Where TeleDirectMD can see you, how location works legally, and what happens if you are traveling.

TeleDirectMD currently serves adult patients who are physically located in the following states at the time of their visit: Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wisconsin.

We are actively expanding and adding new states. For the most up-to-date list, please refer to this FAQ page or the “What We Treat” section before booking.

No. Your permanent home address does not determine eligibility. Telemedicine laws require that you are physically located in a state where the physician is licensed at the time of your visit.

If you are temporarily visiting or traveling through a licensed state, you can still use TeleDirectMD during that time.

Yes. You can use TeleDirectMD while traveling as long as you are physically in one of the states where Dr. Bhavsar is licensed at the time of your visit.

If you are outside our licensed states (for example, in a state we do not cover or in another country), we cannot legally provide medical care or prescribe medications for that encounter.

Conditions, Prescriptions, and Scope of Care

Which problems are appropriate for telemedicine, how prescriptions work, and what falls outside the scope of this service.

TeleDirectMD treats a wide range of common adult conditions that are appropriate for telemedicine. These include:

  • Urinary tract infections, bacterial vaginosis, yeast infections, and other mild gynecologic concerns.
  • Sinus infections, upper respiratory infections, seasonal allergies, pink eye, cold and flu symptoms.
  • Acne, eczema, skin rashes, cold sores, mild cellulitis, and common skin infections.
  • Birth control consultations, post-menopausal vaginal symptoms, men’s sexual health concerns such as erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation.
  • Motion sickness prevention and medication refills for stable chronic conditions when appropriate.

For a detailed, condition-by-condition list, see the “What We Treat” section on the website.

Yes. When clinically appropriate, prescriptions are sent electronically to your preferred pharmacy in the state where you are physically located during your visit. Most prescriptions are ready for same-day pickup depending on the pharmacy’s workflow.

During your video visit, we confirm your pharmacy information and review which medications are safe and appropriate based on your history, allergies, and other medications.

No. TeleDirectMD does not prescribe any controlled substances by telehealth. This includes medications such as Adderall, Ritalin, Xanax, Ativan, Ambien, and opioid pain medications.

We do not manage chronic pain or long-term controlled medication regimens through this platform. If your condition requires those treatments, you will be directed to appropriate in-person care.

No controlled substances on this platform

At this time, TeleDirectMD does not run a GLP-1 or weight-loss medication program. These medications require close, longitudinal monitoring, lab work, and coordination with a primary care physician or weight management specialist.

If you are interested in GLP-1 treatment, we usually recommend discussing options with your in-person primary care doctor or a dedicated obesity medicine clinic.

TeleDirectMD offers ED evaluation and refills within a clearly defined safety framework. In general:

  • Under age 40: we typically require proof of a current ED prescription or prior evaluation before refilling.
  • Age 40 and above: we may initiate treatment after a careful history and risk review, if it is safe and appropriate.

Cardiovascular risk factors, medication interactions, and warning symptoms are reviewed. If there are red flags, you may be referred for in-person evaluation with primary care or cardiology.

Pricing, Insurance, and Payment

How much visits cost, what is included, and how you can pay (including HSA/FSA cards).

No. TeleDirectMD is a direct-pay service and does not bill your insurance. Visits are charged as a transparent flat fee at the time of booking.

You can still use your own insurance card at the pharmacy, lab, or imaging center if those providers accept it.

Most visits are a simple flat-fee (commonly $49) clearly shown at booking. This covers the physician evaluation and, when appropriate, an electronic prescription to your pharmacy.

Medication costs at the pharmacy, any labs or imaging, and in-person follow-up visits with other clinicians are billed separately by those providers and are not included in the TeleDirectMD visit fee.

TeleDirectMD accepts major credit and debit cards and many HSA/FSA cards. Payment is processed through a secure, PCI-compliant online processor at the time of booking.

If your specific HSA/FSA card does not run directly, you can still pay with a regular card and request an itemized receipt, which you may be able to submit to your plan for reimbursement depending on their rules.

We understand that plans change. Whenever possible, please cancel or reschedule ahead of time using the contact details in your confirmation email.

If your condition is clearly not appropriate for telemedicine and the physician advises immediate in-person or emergency care without providing remote treatment, TeleDirectMD may, at its discretion, offer a partial or full refund based on the time and clinical work involved.

Work Notes, Follow-Up, and Portal Access

How work notes are handled, what forms we do not complete, and how to access your visit summary.

When medically appropriate, TeleDirectMD can provide a brief work or school excuse note based on the condition evaluated during your visit.

As a policy, notes are not backdated and are generally limited to a maximum of three days.

Work notes: no backdating, max 3 days

No. TeleDirectMD does not complete FMLA paperwork, long-term disability forms, detailed workplace accommodation requests, fit-for-duty evaluations, DOT exams, or OSHA-related forms.

These typically require in-person examinations and longitudinal follow-up with a primary care physician, occupational medicine clinic, or specialist.

After your first TeleDirectMD visit, you will receive an email invitation to our secure patient portal. Within the portal, you can review visit summaries, treatment plans, instructions, and receipts.
